05/2/98 -.-- There is a bug in Legend of Hero Tonma which causes the game to reset at the end of the first level. I'm not sure if this is protection related or x86 bug related.. I'm working on it, but I'm still not exactly sure what is causing it.

30/1/98 1.22 Juno First now emulates "Legend of Hero Tonma". Sound to come soon hopefully.

29/1/98 1.21b Minor bug fix 2.. Joystick support back for RType I and II.

28/1/98 1.21a Minor Update. Juno now supports the US RType I romset. The names were virtually identical to the supported roms. Just put them in the rtype directory

28/1/98 1.21 Bug fix release. RType II's elevator bug is fixed. Track'n'Field is no longer slower than the previous release. RType I has proper dipswitch settings.

25/1/98 1.20 Finally it's here. I've decided to release it complete with the bug which I've spent the last 3 months going insane trying to find. Fortunately it only really affects RType I, and since Rage already emulates it, I'm not too worried. The bug does affect RType II but not to such a major extent. (Also, thanks to everyone who helped me with finding the SN76489 datasheets

Whats New.. Rtype I and II support. Full sound including YM2151 generated effects (except music) for RType II. 100% colours in Konami games. MUCH MUCH MUCH faster graphics routines. Fullscreen mode.

PLEASE read the junofrst.txt file. It contains important information on what screen modes are used for fullscreen mode and how to work around the bug which affects RType II. I will post screen shots showing the problem soon. I will fix it as soon as I find the bug.

17/12/97 -.-- Congratulations to Janne for getting his RType driver written. See it wasn't that hard ;-). News on my emulator. It's currently on hold while I finish off the Mame Track'n'Field drivers so when thats done it's back to RType II and Co. Currently there is a nasty I86 engine bug which is preventing the release of the new version, and with the Chrismas season here it's getting hard to find time to work on the code. I need a 48 hour day. I've also added some RType I screen shots to the Screen Shots page. (and moved them so the page loads faster)

30/10/97 -.-- So you have been wondering what I've been doing... Well I'm now at a stage where I can show some preview screen shots of what will probably be the next game to be emulated by my emulator. Unfortunately the Konami sound code was put on hold for a little while but you can understand why. Currently there is no sound and the game only runs in 16bit, (due to the game running in 512 colours), but it looks lovely running in 512x384x16 fullscreen mode. I will not be releasing a this version until I am happy with it, but I am aiming to get sample playback in. (Unfortunately there will be no music as it uses a YM2151 chip... Neill where are you ;-). I'm hoping to get RType I running as well but I haven't had a chance to look at it yet. I suspect the hardware is similiar. Emulating an 8 year old game which is still considered THE definitive horizontal shooter is WAY COOL...

15/10/97 -.-- Don't worry guys...... I haven't given up on my emulator. Just a quick update on whats going on. I'm working on getting sound running under most of the games. I'm beta testing Neil Bradley's excellent MZ80 engine which is needed for the sound emulation. Once I've added in the changes required to get two CPU emulations running at the same time I can start doing the emulation of the SN76489 which is the primary music chip, then it's onto the sample playback. I've just received my Track'n'Field board so I can start experimenting with things. (I'm aiming to create a multi-game board out of it).

If anyone has a datasheet on the Texas Instruments SN76489 or SN76496, I'd love to have a look at it. (A URL to a PDF file would be even better ;-)

Before you ask, the emulator isn't making ANY noises yet, so don't ask for beta's .. I'm currently just getting all the pieces together.

19/9/97 -.-- I'm off on holiday for a week so if you are wondering why I haven't replied to any emails then this is why.. I need a break ;-) See you all in a week.

15/9/97 1.18 Colours in Track'n'Field are much better now, although not perfect as I still need the proms which specify which bitplanes are used in the graphics. I have modified the opcode decyption scheme in the 6809 engine which gained a 40-60 percent speed increase in most of the games.

5/9/97 1.17 Circus Charlie Set 2 support added. This is the rom set which allows you to select the level to play, and seems to be the most common "real" arcade set. Funny that. The other version is very tough.

4/9/97 1.16 Circus Charlie support added. Colours still need working on. Fixed up all the Rock'n'Rope Dipswitch settings (Thanks to Ian for the pointer). Sorry guys, I have revamped the Dipswitch saving, and had to set all the settings back to their default values.

3/9/97 1.15 - Fixed the High Score saving problem with HyperSports.. I finally worked out why it stopped working all of a sudden.. The 8k Hypersports romset has a DIFFERENT set of dipswitch settings!!. There is conflicting dipswitch setting information on Wiretap, BUT they are BOTH correct.. It all depends on what revision hardware you have. (8k or 16k roms)
